Peach Melba Freakshake
An over the top, Instagram worthy shake, simple for anyone to make. The name of the game when it comes to the freakshake is pile it high.
Who doesn’t love a good milkshake? No matter the weather, I could always go for a milkshake but when summer comes around, peach really hits the spot. With August being national peach month, incorporating peaches into a shake is a cinch.
A simple peach shake offers any sweet treat lover a lush dessert and there is lots of room to elevate the flavor by making it a duo by adding honey or raspberries but even better, make it a freakshake.
What is a freakshake exactly? A freakshake is an over the top indulgent shake. There are no set in stone rules on how to make one and it is entirely up to you how creative you get with your toppings. You can dress up a freakshake ( humbly) by adding melted chocolate or buttercream to the rim of your shake glass and rolling it in toppings or you can pile it high with sweet treats in ode to Willy Wonka himself. Just by looking at a freakshake, there is no sugarcoating the facts that this dessert could make you to loosen your belt a few notches and possibly some side effects of a sugar rush but I never said it was healthy. Even though a freakshake is easy to make, it isn’t for the faint of heart when it comes to polishing off the whole thing by yourself. Unless you plan on making one in a small glass, it’s a nice treat to share with a friend.
Peach Melba Freakshake Recipe
Blender ( smoothie/ shake)
Ice cream scoop
Knife or offset spatula
Glass for shake
Shallow dish for rim toppings* optional
Melted chocolate or buttercream for rim
2 cups Vanilla Ice Cream
1/2 cup Whole Milk
2 large peaches peeled, sliced and pureed
1 tbsp sugar
Raspberry Compote ( Raspberry Sauce)
Before you get down to business with your shake, you want to gather all of your toppings, the world is your oyster. Here are my favorite toppings particular for a Peach Melba because they pair well with this flavor combination, however, whatever you dream up— add it to the list! In addition, whichever ingredients you would like to add to your glass rim, pour them in a shallow dish and set aside for later.

How to assemble a Peach Melba Freakshake
In a shallow dish, add ingredients that you would like to dress the rim of your glass with, set aside.
Wash 1st peach, peel and puree in blender with sugar ( until it resembles baby food) set aside. Wash second peach, peel, slice into small pieces and reserve to be added in at the end.
Before you begin to decorate your glass, make sure it is room temperature so the chocolate or buttercream doesn’t set prematurely. Start by icing the rim of your shake glass, this can be done using a knife or offset spatula.
Gently roll the rim of your glass in your dish until it is covered to your liking. Set the decorated glass in the freezer while you prepare your shake.
In your blender, add ice cream, peach puree and a splash of milk. Blend until smooth. If your shake is too thick, add more milk until desired consistency is reached.
Remove shake glasses from freezer. Pour your peach shake in and add raspberry sauce and sliced peaches. Give it a quick stir and top your Peach Melba shake with whipped cream.
